Search Engine Loyalty
I was just working on Swank Martini’s PPC ads on Google. I was thinking about my past experiences with buying Google Ads and Yahoo Ads. In the past I used Overture to buy ads for Swank and our other ecommerce ventures. I learned that the “buyers” are in Google. I use conversion ruler to track the convertion of a visitor to a buyer. Google always won. That was 1 year ago. Since things change fast online I am rethinking this right now.
I just read that a study of 2 million consumers report that these people are more loyal to Google by over 25% then Yahoo. So Google receives 75% of their searches, Yahoo 47%, MSN 26% (I never use it) and ASk.com 21% (I never use it). This tells me that we are right about spending our money with Google, but we are prob over looking a ton of traffic and sales by not being on these other sites. Just because Google gets 75% of peoples searches does not mean it is the only place to spend our money. Realisticly we need to spread some money over to yahoo’s network as well.
Note that this is Seach Loyalty, not number of searches. If iwas was ASK would be in the single digits I am sure.
