Secure Ordering Banner - A Big Deal
We had a customer of one of our online ecommerce stores call us recently and ask us about the security of the web site. They started the conversation off with, “your site is not secure so I am calling in my order”.
Well the sites are all secure. In fact much more secure then most of the other sites we have seen online. We used the GeoTrust 128 bit certificate .
At first I thought they were just Internet newbie’s and not really understanding how to identify secure transaction. We identify them with the small LOCK in the bottom left of the browser AND the https:// in the URL. Doesn’t everyone? Well no…
Not everyone knows this - some people look for a certificate banner, Trust-e seal or a hacker safe banner. Well we did not display any….. Bad bad bad…

As I have noted in the past that getting more sales online is not just increasing traffic - BUT GETTING MORE CONVERSIONS FROM YOUR EXISTING TRAFFIC. That is what you are doing when you add a Secure Seal. We saw sales bump up another 1-2% - maybe more. It is hard to measure at the moment - but in a single day we saw more orders - a noticeable amount.
So lets say you have 1000 unique visitors a day now. You have a 2% conversion ratio… that means at the end of the day you will have 20 orders. Not bad. If you add the seal and get another 1% that means you will have 10 more orders - that changes your business.
