Google as Registrar.. Here is a Thought…

We see that our freinds at google are going to be registering domain names. This is pretty interesting… Why would they do this? Seems like a whole new space that is not nearly as exciting as the search engine world. Maybe they want to have rights to see the creation dates of the sites, and use that to create a bias towards the older ones?

We met with a SEO specialist and he did mention the “sandbox theory”. Meaning that all new domain names are placed in a sandbox and are not listed in the index for about 6-9 months. So that means that new sites will not show up in Googles search results pages under normal situations.

What might change that? Get linked to by a “google strong” site. A site that has a google rank over 6 and has 100’s or 1000’s of sites linking to it.

So lets say you are a new site and go online selling ties and shoes. Over the course of a 6 months you get a few web sites that link to you - you will probably not get ranked in google. On the flip side say you get huge PR and hit the CNN web site and they link to you? Do you think that you will have a higher chance of getting out of the Sandbox? Yes, so do we.

Toledo.com is like CNN’s little brother. High traffic, highly ranked, relevent, and gets sites listed easy. Best of all you know someone over at Toledo.com - as a client you can get linked to for free. Call us and get the hook-up. It can’t hurt - only help..
